Day Camp & Boarding

Socialization is about much more than simply interacting with other dogs or people. True socialization involves thoughtful exposure to a variety of sights, sounds, and smells, while developing the ability to remain calm and neutral. It also includes building problem-solving skills, maintaining focus and impulse control, and fostering confidence through positive experiences.

At RAC, we are committed to supporting your dog’s growth and development. We work consistently with our established pack, allowing new dogs to learn not only from us, but also from the balanced behaviors of their new friends. This creates a positive, structured environment where dogs feel safe, confident, and thrive.

Day Camp is available Monday through Friday. All of the campers, including dogs boarding, participate in day camp.

Each day is balanced with both freedom and structure. Weather permitting, the majority of our time is spent outdoors, where our large, fenced yard provides endless enrichment opportunities. Dogs are able to enjoy different activities, from chase games, to fetch, exploring all the smells, relaxing in the fresh air, or chasing the birds in the bushes and gazebo. Our yard allows the dogs to play and recharge at their own pace.

Our outdoor space is especially beneficial for dogs who enjoy social interaction but also value their independence. Or dogs who require time and space to observe as they get familiar with a new group of dogs, different personalities, or away from mom/dad. We have plenty of space to spread out so dogs can chose their activity without having to hug the edge of the yard or become overwhelmed with dogs in their personal bubble.

At the same time, we provide intentional structure for dogs who may need help slowing down. For our ball obsessed social butterflies, we incorporate regular “reset” moments throughout the day. These include patio breaks, guided sniff walks, love & pets, and our popular group photos. These resets promote neutrality around other dogs, prevent overstimulation, and train each dog’s off switch because rest and regulation are just as important as play.

Safety is our highest priority. We provide patience, structure, and guidance to help each dog succeed within our pack environment. However, there are times when group daycare may not be the right fit for a particular dog, and that’s okay. If we determine that a dog is creating an unsafe situation for themselves, other dogs, or us, we will communicate openly and honestly with you.

We believe that a dog’s mental and emotional well-being is just as important as their physical safety. For that reason, we carefully assess each dog’s comfort and behavior within our environment.

Examples of situations that may impact a dog’s suitability for camp include, but are not limited to:

Anxiety

We always give dogs with anxiety time and support to adjust. However, not every dog becomes comfortable in a group daycare environment. Daycare is not the right fit for every dog, and some may simply prefer a quieter, more independent setting.

Aggression

Dogs displaying aggression toward people or other dogs are not suitable for group daycare.

Barrier Frustration

Some dogs may become frustrated around gates, on leash, or at physical barriers. Dogs must be able to be redirected when fixated and must not attempt to jump or climb fencing.

Resource Guarding

Dogs should be comfortable sharing space and access to people, toys, water, treats, and other resources. Possessive or guarding behaviors can create an unsafe environment and are not permitted.

Extreme Play

While enthusiasm and playfulness are encouraged, behaviors such as excessive jumping, nipping, leash pulling during drop-off or pick-up, mounting, or rough play (including knocking over other dogs or people) are not appropriate. Dogs must be able to read social cues, respect boundaries, and communicate appropriately with both humans and other dogs.

To ensure each new dog receives the attention and support they deserve, we limit introductions to one new dog or household per day. This allows us to give the new addition the extra attention they deserve.

Each new camper is given time to explore the yard independently, allowing them to become comfortable with the environment at their own pace. Once they are settled, we begin introducing other dogs one at a time under close supervision.

This gradual, structured approach promotes safe, positive interactions and helps build confidence in a new setting. Our goal is for every dog to feel secure, supported, and set up for success from the very start.

Dogs need rest. Even during an active day at daycare. We provide structured breaks throughout the day to support each dog’s physical and mental well-being. These breaks may include group walks in the fenced yard, quiet relaxation time in our playroom, or lounging on the patio.

We also offer an extended midday rest period, giving dogs the opportunity to enjoy lunch and recharge with a nap. Rest is essential for maintaining healthy energy levels and promoting balanced behavior.

At RAC, we prioritize helping every dog feel comfortable settling down, whether alongside their friends or in a more independent space, so they can return to play refreshed and happy.

Welcome to your dog’s favorite vacation spot. At camp, your dog becomes part of our family and shares our home, including sleeping indoors in a calm, quiet environment.

All boarding stays include full participation in Day Camp at no additional cost. This ensures each dog enjoys an active, enriching vacation. Day camp is perfect for those with higher energy levels, as well as dogs who prefer to explore, sniff, and relax at their own pace. Because of this, all boarding dogs must be comfortable participating in Day Camp so they can fully enjoy their stay.

For details on what to bring, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page. We recommend packing at least three extra days’ worth of food and any necessary medications. This allows us to accommodate unexpected travel delays and ship, if needed. Trust us, plans changes and both flight and driving delays happen.

SLEEPING

All dogs must be able to settle and rest comfortably, either in a kennel or within a group setting. We understand that the first night can be an adjustment, and we closely monitor each dog’s ability to relax and sleep. If a dog shows signs of excessive stress or becomes destructive, we will communicate promptly and may request pickup by the designated emergency contact. Our priority is to ensure a safe, calm, and supportive environment for every dog in our care.

SHARING

When indoors, dogs share a common area. All dogs must be comfortable sharing spaces such as couches, dog beds, and blankets. Dogs are also expected to remain relaxed and non-possessive around people, toys, water bowls, food, and other shared resources.

COMFORT AWAY FROM HOME

Please remember this is our home. Some dogs are working on behaviors (counter surfing) and we understand that and keep our home as dog safe as possible. However, dogs who struggle with direction, are destructive, or mark in the home will be excused.
